The Second Scorpene
class submarine, INS Khanderi was launched at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders
Limited, Mumbai. It has the superior stealth and ability to launch a crippling
attack with torpedoes as well as tube-launched anti-ship missiles, whilst
underwater or on surface.
About INS Khanderi
INS
Khanderi is designed to operate in all theatre including Tropics. It is named
after the Island fort of Maratha forces. It is the 2nd of the six
submarines being built at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited in collaboration
with m/s DCNS of France as a part of project 75 of Indian Navy.
The
first one in this series is Kalvari
which is currently under sea trials and it will soon commissioned in
Indian Navy.
