1.India and UNISDR sign statement of Cooperation on Sendai Framework.
India has signed a Statement of Cooperation with United Nations Office for Disaster Risk reduction during the 2nd day of AMSDRR 2016 (Asian Ministerial conference on Disaster Risk Reduction) for effective implementation and monitor of Sendai Framework on DRR(Disaster Risk Reduction)
Importance of Current Statement :
This Statement focused mainly on the guiding principles, objectives and area of cooperation between India and UNISDR toward the implementation and monitoring of Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction.
The Sendai Framework which is adopted at 3rd world conference on Disaster Risk reduction at Sendai in Japan march 2015
This Statement will help India to work with UNISDR towards strengthening the capacity of Asian Countries in ensuring Risk Resilient Development.
This Cooperation helps promoting international and regional cooperation to reinforce political commitment etc.
What is Sendai Framework?
Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction is the first major international treaty post 2015 on disaster risk reduction. It has been approved by United Nation member states on 18-March-2015 at the world conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Sendai, Japan.
The four priorities of Sendai Framework are a, understanding disaster risk, strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk, investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience, enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response and to build back better in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
It is also sets seven global targets. Sendai Framework is the successor agreement of Hyogo Framework for action 2005-2015.
2. India and Srilanka to set up Joint Working Group on Fishermen issue.
India and Srilanka decided to set up Joint working Group to solve the long pending Fishermen Issue. They have decided to meet every three months and hold a meeting between the ministers of fisheries every six month.
They also going to establish Hotline between two coast Gaurds.
The JWG meeting will include representatives from ministers of Foreign affairs, Coast Guards and Navies of both Countries.
3.RBI finally approvees its first S4A scheme for HCC for structuring of stressed Assets.
The Overseeing Committee of the Reserve Bank of India finally given its approval for the scheme of sustainable structuring of Stressed assets for Hindustan Construction Company.
HCC is the first company to get an approval by Overseeing committee of RBI.
What is S4A?
S4A means scheme for sustainable structuring of stressed asset. It will help to successfully tackle the bad loans of large companies by dividing into 2 half one is sustainable and another is unsustainable.
In simple Sustainable loans has to bare by Company and unsustainable loan can be converted into equity and sold to a new owner who have manageable debts and can run the business.
4. Indian Women's Hockey team won Asia cup 2016.
Indian Women's Hockey team won its maiden Women’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Singapore on Saturday beating China by 2-1.
