1. Center has approved the MOU with Japan for Marine -Earth Science and Technology

Government of India has approved a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japanese agency Marine-Earth Science and Technology and the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

The Objective of the MOU is advancement of academic research in the field of Earth sciences for the benefit of peace and human welfare.

The MOU with JAMSTE will help to enhance capability in field of atmospheric and climate research, ocean technology observation and hazard mitigation , it also helps Indian scientists with needed exposure.


2. First International Agro biodiversity congress held in New Delhi, India.

The first International Agro biodiversity congress held in New Delhi from 6 Nov to 9th November which is organized by the Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources and Biodiversity International, a CGIAR(formerly the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research )

The first congress has been attended by 900 delegates from 60 countries.

Outcome:

The delegates discussed various aspects of access, conservation and use of Agro biodiversity. Based on the discussion delegates adopted the preamble .

Indian Council of Agricultural Research said that India is the perfect place for the first International Agro biodiversity Congress as it is one of the most diverse countries in the world.

India is only 2.4 % of world's land and yet it harbors 7-8 % of all recorded species.


Uses of Agro biodiversity:

  • It will help to increase productiviy, food security, and reduce the pressure of agriculture on fragile areas, forests
  • It will help to make farming system more stable.
  • It will help in pest and disease management .
  • It will help in soil conservation , increase soil fertility


3. Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Launch Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana.

The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship launched the Pradhan mantri Yuva Yojana, it is an scheme on entrepreneurship education and training to the youths.

The Scheme spans over 5 years from 2016-17 to 2020-21 with a project cost of Rs.499.94 crore and wil provide entrepreneurship education and training to over 7 lakh students in 5 years through 3050 Institutes. 

It will also include easy access to information an mentor network, credit, incubator and accelerator and advocacy to create a pathway for the youth (as per Official Statement)
