Census conducted in Orang tiger reserve, Assam.

Scientist has found 28 tigers in latest census conducted in Rajiv Gandhi Orang Tiger Reserve, Assam. It is the 49th Tiger Reserve which was declared last year.

About the Orang Tiger Reserve:

  • It is located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, spread over Darrang and Sonitpur Districts of Assam.
  • It is the fourth tiger Reserve forest in Assam, which has the smallest core of 78.28
  • Orang Tiger Reserve is often called as the Mini Kaziranga due to its similar landscape.
  • Orang tiger reserve has the highest density nationally of 35.44, if we calculate density of tigers for 100,
  • All India tiger estimation programme of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has revealed this count.
