Indian Navy successfully test-fires Anti-ship missile from Kalvari submarine
The Indian Navy successfully test-fired anti-ship missile from indigenously built Kalvari submarine.
It is Indian Army's significant milestone in enhancing its Sub-surface warfare ability. the missile successfully hit a surface target at extended ranges during the trial firing, this is significant milestone which will enhancing the Navy's sub surface warfare capability.
According to Official statement_The weapon was fired from the submarine, the first of six Scorpene-class submarines built under the project 75 and it successfully hit a surface target.
All the 6 diesel-electric attack submarines will be equipped with the anti-ship missile which has proven record in combat.
These missile will provide the submarine the ability to neutralize surface threats at extended ranges.
About Kalvari
Kalvari is submarine built for Indian navy based on Scorpene-class Submarine. It is designed by French naval defence and Energy DCNS and being manufactured at Mazagon Dock ltd in Mumbai.
The submarines can move with the speed of 15 knots on surface and 20 knots when it submerged. It has superior stealth technology can launch massive attacks through precision guided weapons.
