Second Sailboat INSV Tarini Inducted into Indian Navy
Second Sailboat INSV Tarini
was inducted into Indian Navy at a ceremony held at the INS Mandovi Boat Pool,
Goa. Tarini is slated to be the platform for first Indian all women circumnavigation
of the globe expedition by the Indian Navy.
About INSV Tarini.
INSV Tarini, Sailing boat has
been built by M/s Aquarius Shipyard Pvt Ltd at Diva, Goa. The stock design was
built by Van de Stadt, Netherlands called Tonga 56 and hull is made up of wooden
core fiberglass.
INSV Tarini successful trails
completed in January and it is skippered by by
Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi and crew members include Lieutenant
Commander Pratibha Jamwal, Lieutenant Aishwarya Boddapati, Lt Patarapalli
Swathi, Lt Payal Gupta and Lt Sh Vijaya Devi
Inidan Navy is already operating
3 Sailing Vessels, Tarangini, Mahadei, Sudarshini which is also built in
Shipyard of Goa.
