Ajay Tyagi appointed as SEBI Chairman
The Government has appointed Ajay Tyagi, an additional secretary
in the finance ministry ,as chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of
India (SEBI)
Ajay Tyagi, a 1984 IAS batch of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, will
serve as the SEBI chief for 4 years or until the age of 65, whichever is
earlier.
He will be the 9th SEBI Chariman,, will take over
from U.K. Sinha.
About SEBI:
SEBI (Securities and
Exchange Board of India) is a regulator body for the securities market in India
which is established in the year 1988 and given statutory powers through SEBI
Act in 1992. It headquarter is Mumbai , Maharashtra.
